In addition to our standard software support services, we have developed software which can monitor your website every minute of the day, so that our engineers know about a problem the moment it happens. Our monitoring software is designed to test the site as an ‘ordinary’ user would, not simply checking that it responds to ‘pings’, or that the web server is running even though the database may have crashed.
To acheive this, the tests are tailored to suit the website, and designed to cover all of the discrete subsystems, such as a database or payment client, whose failure could be inconspicuous behind the façade of a working front page.
This service is offered for a one-time setup fee as part of a support contract. This covers our costs of setting up the site-specific monitoring services and depends on the complexity of the website and the number and variety of subsystems which need to be monitored.
We quote for this on a per-site basis, but as a rough guide, a simple, static website would incur a setup fee of £50, whereas setup of monitoring services for a more complex site with an e-commerce system and database services could cost around £600.
Upon failure of any part of the server system, a Sygneca engineer will be on standby to receive notification of the interruption, and to take immediate action to return everything to working order. We can also send an email to an administrative contact to notify them that a service interruption has occurred and that it is being handled.
